Iowa Community Corps Member Application
Are you committed to improving access to essential services in rural and underserved communities? The Iowa Community Corps Experience offers a meaningful opportunity to support statewide efforts that connect individuals and families to the resources they need through the HUB Navigator referral system.
This internship is designed for individuals who are passionate about community development, public service, and making a measurable impact. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and contribute to real change across Iowa, we encourage you to apply.
What You’ll Be Doing
This internship focuses on supporting and enhancing the HUB Navigator process and strengthening the broader network of community services across the state.
Support and enhance the HUB Navigator referral process to improve coordination and access to community resources. The intern will help ensure Navigators are equipped with up-to-date tools and information to effectively connect individuals and families to the services they need, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Key activities include:
- Engage directly with the Navigator team to gain a clear understanding of the current resource connection process, including how referrals are made and tracked.
- Present updates during Navigator team meetings to share newly identified or updated community resources, helping ensure Navigators have timely and accurate information at their fingertips.
Support the Community Services Associates in identifying and promoting underutilized programs and resources in rural communities. The member will assist the Community Services Associates responsible for addressing local resource needs to identify valuable but under-promoted services that can better support Iowa families. This work will help expand the network of available connections for HUB Navigators.
Key activities include:
- Identify resource gaps particularly those that are consistently difficult to fill in rural areas (transportation, housing, etc.) and work with the team to locate or develop solutions to address these challenges.
- Assist in assessing local resource availability based on partner-identified needs. Review and respond to resource gaps submitted by HUB partners from across the state. This involves evaluating existing service connections within specific regions and identifying where additional support is needed.
- Engage and prepare new community resources for HUB referral and partnership. Reach out to both existing and newly identified organizations to introduce the HUB and gather key information needed to integrate them into the HUB’s network.
Support evaluation of the HUB navigation process to strengthen program effectiveness and participant experience. The member will contribute to ongoing quality improvement efforts by helping the HUB gather, analyze, and share feedback from individuals who have interacted with HUB Navigators and community-based services. This work will help ensure services remain responsive, culturally appropriate, and aligned with community needs.
Key activities include:
- Help plan and conduct a community focus group with individuals who recently completed a HUB-supported program, providing a deeper understanding of their experience and how navigation efforts can be improved.
- Create a report that summarizes participant feedback to be shared with HUB Community Access and Impact Council and with partner organizations in a Monthly Office Hours session.
